In
February of 1991, Yvonne Schwartz decided after
working three years for a local industrial caterer,
to open her own catering business. She started
YES Mobile Catering in her home's kitchen, after
several health code modifications. Five years
ago, her business had expanded so much she moved
to 65201 Sourwood Drive, Goshen. "Since we
moved here we have expanded three times,"
explains Schwartz. "And due to the increase
in business, we are anticipating another addition
in the near future"
With
eight catering routes covering all of Elkhart
County, YES serves breakfast and lunch to more
than 160 factories. Every day there is a variety
of five to seven breakfasts and 18 lunches from
which to choose. Foods include biscuits and gravy;
restaurant style omelet; breakfast sandwiches;
sausage Italian subs; twin sloppy joes; hobo dinners;
and beef stew over biscuits.
"We
have won several awards from the Mobile Industrial
Caterers Association, International, " says
Schwartz, "We have won for food display;
best dessert/pastry category, for our Zucchini
bread; best hot sandwich, for the pizza deluxe
sub; and best dinner for beef stew, Schwartz says
two weekly favorites are Wednesday's fried chicken
and Friday's Beer-Bud Fish.
This
people-oriented business is radio dispatched so,
according to Schwartz, if their trucks need anything,
including to be restocked with food, it can be
taken care of immediately.
